Presentation

The digital poster project required students to use presentation skills learned throughout course selections to create a PowerPoint with a single slide which included some sort of multimedia element.  The expectations were to choose a technology tool which may be applied to facilitate education or training,   and create an in-depth analysis of it, including potential benefits for learning as well as any drawbacks and limitations. I used Keynote to create the poster as this tool is most suited to my particular vision level and workflow. I chose to discuss the iOS and Android app HandTalk, which is used primarily to translate written and spoken words into sign language. I first searched for this app while working because at the time I was facing a specific case where a similar solution was required, and it has proven    to have some applications in my field for certain individuals.  However, I feel it is just as important that educators and other parties should understand the limitations before using this app in order to apply it effectively. I have noticed that at times, it is easy to hear about a new technology and picture it solving every problem effortlessly, then become completely disillusioned when a flaw is discovered, especially regarding  those which could assist those with disabilities. Paying careful attention to balanced information is crucial when adopting the programs that may still make life easier, but one day at a time.
